digitalWelcome to the cutest sewing pattern to personalise your headphones/ AirPods Max in the most practical way! This pattern is the perfect project for confident beginners and adds a little pop of colour to an otherwise mundane object. Many newer models of headphones lack the hinge mechanism that allows them to fold up in a compact case, therefore I developed this pattern for my Sony headphones to protect the ear cups. This pattern can be made for a large or a smaller set of headphones and works best for ear cups that can rotate and sit flat on a surface. It has a middle flap to stop the cover from slipping off and it is quilted with a fully lined inside. I have also included instructions to add an external loop so that you can attach your headphones to the outside of a bag etc. to minimise damage. I hope you have as much fun creating this as i did!
What you will need:
Outer fabric - this fabric needs to be large enough to fit 2x Outer Layer, 1x middle flap and 1x base fabric. I like to use a non directional fabric to limit fabric wastage and allow me to pin pieces wherever I like, this piece of fabric should also be big enough to fold in half for fabric piece D,
Lining fabric - roughly the same size as outer fabric,
Batting or wadding - this can be any kind that you like. I prefer a more coarse one with a bit more structure for this project,
Fabric for pattern piece C. I chose the same fabric as the lining,
Pins and/ or sewing clips,
a washable or erasable pen,
matching thread,
an ironing board and iron,
safety pin,
iron on or normal velcro,
An at home printer or printing service,
normal sewing equipment such as a sewing machine, fabric scissors, etc.
